The Need

XL Joinery previously utilised a baler which wasn’t meeting the required ‘Mill Specification’ resulting in them failing to access ‘market price’ for their baled cardboard and plastics. One Stop were invited to site in December 2018 to conduct a free site waste audit. They discussed in detail all aspects of their current waste management plan, focusing on key areas where they wanted to see immediate improvement.

Improved and proactive communications between XL Joinery and their waste manager were top of the agenda. Prices paid for good clean material also needed to be improved, and aligned with current market expectations and index rates. They also required high quality, easy to use waste handling equipment backed up with a robust operator training programme and certification.

The Solution

When One Stop received another request from David Crossley to meet with them early in 2019 to discuss moving things forward, we responded promptly and arranged another site visit. We discussed our attitude and dedication to delivery of high levels of customer service account management.

There are no call centres to navigate here at One Stop and XL really liked that they could contact us by telephone or email without delay and receive advice from a knowledgeable member of our team, familiar with the account and the customers precise expectations. This was also to be ‘backed up’ with direct contact numbers our Commercial Manager.

We agreed a mobilisation plan, with firm timescales and dates for delivery of our equipment. A Mill Specification Vertical Baler was the right equipment for the job in hand. To help lower our customers costs further we were asked to supply a fully remanufactured model.

After some careful assessment we prepared risk assessments and a method statement for delivery, installation and commissioning of the equipment. The baler was installed on the 14th February. One Stop deployed a team that managed transport, offloading by vehicle crane and our engineers were also in attendance to fully commission the equipment.

The Results

XL Joinery now use the baler to produce wire tied, Mill specification bales of both high grade LDPE and clean cardboard. Their segregation disciplines are superb, producing high quality, saleable baled commodities.

The Feedback

"Rarely can we really commit to saying that a particular service is exemplary, however credit must go to One Stop for the seamless delivery, installation, commissioning and training of our new Vertical Baler yesterday.
We were advised that the baler would arrive between 08:00 and 09:00... A Hiab vehicle arrived at 08:30, the driver ‘knew his stuff’ and went through the best method of unloading and siting of the baler.

We were advised that the installation guy would be with us between 09:00 and 10:00...... he arrived at 09:15, again he knew exactly what he was doing.
He advised us on the best and correct siting of the equipment and then said it would take him around an hour and a half to bolt down and commission the baler, then he would do some training.

At 11:00 the installation was complete and we got a number of our guys together for training... the training was ‘spot on’ being clear and informative. He went through the whole process completing a full 500kg bale and also gave good emphasis to all aspects of safety and safe operation of the equipment.

Please pass on the thanks of myself and my colleagues to all concerned for an absolutely first class operation.

Thank you for the certificates and operating manual. Again...... our thanks"
